Alison

Chief Executive

Alison Eddy

RM, RCPN, MPH

Alison is a registered midwife and was appointed to the role of CE in January 2019. Alison is committed to evolving the College to continue to meet the needs of its members, ensuring it provides services that support members to provide high quality care maternity care to women and their babies.

Alison has worked as a Midwifery Advisor at the College for a number of years and previously as Project and Contract Manager for Manatū Hauora | The Ministry of Health. Her experience as a self-employed and employed midwife provides a broad base of knowledge to lead the College forward.

Elaine Gray web

Midwifery Advisor - Continuing Education

Elaine Gray

RM, RN, Diploma in Adult Teaching and Learning, M.Mid

Elaine is a practising midwife and has a wealth of experience as an educator within the maternity services. From her extensive clinical experience she has been able to develop post registration midwifery education in a range of settings and currently delivers education programmes nationally. Elaine has been instrumental in developing many of the workshops provided by the College.

Midwifery Advisor - Research, Public Health and Equity

Claire MacDonald

MPH, RM

Claire is a practising midwife with experience community, hospital, urban and rural settings. Claire is dedicated to improving and being accountable for health equity in maternity with a focus on equitable health outcomes. She brings this focus to her advisory role and as a College representative on several national guideline, policy, advisory and research groups. Claire is the co-editor of the New Zealand College of Midwives Journal | Te Hautaka o te Kāreti o ngā Kaiwhakawhānau ki Aotearoa and chairs the College’s Research Database Access Governance Group.

Midwifery Advisor - Professional Projects

Violet Clapham

RM, MMid

Violet is a practising midwife with many years of experience supporting the homebirth community. Violet has provided midwifery representation and leadership at many levels including as a regional chairperson and on national multidisciplinary guideline and governance groups. She continues to advocate strongly for midwifery autonomy and fair working conditions for all midwives in her ongoing work for the College. As an advisor Violet’s portfolios include supporting community midwifery leadership, promoting physiological birth, and co-ordination of the College’s biennial national conference.

Māori Midwifery Advisor

Te Paea (Shannon) Bradshaw

Ngati Kahungunu ki Wairarapa

Te Paea is an experienced midwife who has worked across the midwifery profession. As Core staff, LMC, Cultural advisor, Acting Midwifery Director, Tūranga Kaupapa facilitator and a mentor. She is passionate about all things Māori including improving Māori health inequities. Favourite whakataukī: Nāhau te rourou, Nāku te rourou ka ora ai te iwi – Working collaboratively, and understanding we each have knowledge will improve the health of all people.

Brigid Beehan

Brigid is a practising midwife based in Auckland. Her wide variety of midwifery clinical and professional experiences support her role in managing the Midwifery Standards Review (quality assurance process for the midwives) and Resolution Committees.

Carol Bartle

RN, RM, IBCLC, PGDip Child Advocacy, MHealSc (Otago).

Carol has experience in a range of disciplines linked to maternal and mental health and well-being. Carol brings these skills to her role as policy analyst and provides support to the midwifery advisors.

Hayley McMurtrie

Hayley has considerable marketing experience in the UK and Aotearoa New Zealand, many years within the health sector. Hayley manages the College communications including both the College and Find Your Midwife websites and is editor of the College magazine, Midwife Aotearoa.

Midwifery First Year of Practice (MFYP) Administrator

Samantha Humphreys

Samantha is your first point of contact for the Midwifery First Year of Practice (MFYP) programme. Samantha is mum two pre-school age children and brings with her experience in administration, executive support and customer service from a number of industries. Lynda Overton

Lynda manages and provides leadership to the College office staff. Lynda’s administration experience is extensive and includes Manatū Hauora | the Ministry of Health, School of Medicine, Canterbury District Health Board and a private education provider.

Receptionist

Alice Buzan

Alice has a strong background in administration and provides front of house reception and telephone services for the College. As well as coordinating consumer feedback from 22-25,000 women each year, Alice processes all the College’s book and resource orders.

Lisa Donkin

Lisa’s primary role is the day to day administration of the membership database. Lisa also supports the Find Your Midwife team with administration and  provides support to the MERAS representatives.

Alys Pullein

Alys has a strong administrative and secretarial background with experience in project facilitation and event management. Alys manages all things administration for the Midwifery Standards Reviews and the College’s education workshops.

Wayne Robertson

Wayne is an experienced chartered accountant, a company director nationally and internationally, and provides accountancy oversight of the College’s finances on a part-time basis.

Fiona supports the College accountant in managing the accounts and day to day operations of the College. Fiona gained experience in administration and small business accounting prior to joining the administration team.

Having worked in various administration roles in Aotearoa New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Fiona provides general administration to the team, with her primary role membership support to the Membership Administrator and Continuing Education Midwifery Advisor.
